The Daily Providers-Original Folk Songs & Irish Ballad Variations

The Daily Providers

Conditions were calm, the wind was still, out on the sea near Mizen Head

In Castletownbere, we all said a prayer for each man and his family, taken by the swell

Their trawler was sturdy, their boxes were filling, the fishing was plenty, and life was for living

So then why were we left without our sons and Fathers?

The good men who work so hard, the grafters and risers, the daily providers, the daily providers

The rescue teams found debris scattered where the ship went down

And the smell of fuel lingered in the air by a jagged rock

where the divers were searching for our men

Their trawler was sturdy, their boxes were filling, the fishing was plenty, and life was for living

So then why were we left without of our sons and Fathers?

The good men who work so hard, the grafters and risers, the daily providers, the daily providers
