Cathal O'Brian (b.1974) is a prolific Watercolourist of rustic plein air paintings, rural and city landscapes, people and places, and 'poetry in motion'. His loose and evocative atmospheric brushwork captures 'mood' by focusing on light and shade, where technique is authentic, immediate, and often with a limited palette. His subject matter ranges from historical buildings and busy city streets to quiet country scenes and vibrant seascapes. As a passionate observer of the world, his contributions to Watercolour painting are seated in a deep desire to capture life's precious moments through craft and medium.

His art gallery in the heart of Lucan, Dublin, showcases his artwork past and present. It is open to the public every Sunday from 10:30am to 3:00pm.
